THE CLINICAL EFFECT OF BRONCHO-VAXOM¢ç ON THE RECURRENT RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS OF CHILDREN

Abstract
Broncho-Vaxom, a polyvalent lyophilized bacterial lysate prepared from the pathogenic organisms which are most frequently the cause of acute and chronic respiratory infections, brings about both a non-specific imrnunostimulation with incresed lymphocyte and macrophage activity as well as enhancement of immune-defence mechanism. Many investigators have been reported the therapeutic and prevetive effects of this drug on cases of chronic recurrent respiratory tract infections in both of children and adults.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of Broncho-Vaxom in the fields of treatment and prophylaxis of recurrent respiratory diseases in children.
Twenty children suffering from recurrent tracheo-brochitis and tonsillitis were observed a period of six months. During the 1st three momths, 20 cases received Broncho-Vaxom in dooage of one capsule per day on 10 days per month.
We observed the clinical manifestations and analysed the clinical improvements and effectiv; esss after adminstration of Broncho-Vaxom by scoring system of 5 symptoms, ig, dyspnea, cough, sputum, fever and stridor.
The results are as follows :
1. There were significant improvement of five symptoms by comparing of score system, after 6 months of Broncho-Vaxom administration. ( p <0.001)
2. According .to disease entities, There were significant improvement of 5 symptoms in both tracheo-bronchitis and tonsillitis groups.
3. The degrees of response of this drug were : no-effective in 3 cases(15.0 %), moderate effective in 3 cases(15.0 %), good in 5 cases(25.0 %), very good in 9 cases(45.0 %) respectivelly. So, sum of total number of effctiveness were 17 cases(8 5.0 %).
4. The side effects were not notified during this study.
